Filmed over a year, a look the tailoring houses of Savile Row, synonymous with bespoke tailoring for two centuries. The tailors view a jeanswear company's arrival with trepidation.
I suspect the series it's from the same people who created epic observational documentary The Tower - the cinematography, mood and music seem similar as is the subject of old London meeting new London.
The axis of which is Abercrombie & Fitch moving into Savile Row with their brash advertising and crap clothes. To which the sartorial experts simply say "they are not Savilie Row". Although the CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch reckons his store will still be in Savile Row in 200 years time. Let's hope not.
I'm not sure I can afford £2500 for a bespoke suit, but the saying is that you go to Savile Row not to spend a lot of money but to save a lot of money, and seeing their customer's suits from the 1950s still looking good you can see their point.
Anyway please don't watch Alan Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong, watch Savile Row - BBC 4 on various repeats.
